Welcome master rugger to the Virginia Old Boy Rugby Classic at the Porter Cup in Richmond, Virginia Sunday April 4th,2004.

A few particulars:

This is a one day event and your side may be expected to play two to three matches. The length of the matches will be determined after we discover how many sides will attend. In any event, we expect to conclude the OB competition before the start of the Open Final.

Presentation of The OB Champion Cup immediately after our final.

Hospitality for the master sides at Dorey park at the grill--vouchers will be issued to players for complementary food and drink

Each side is expected to pay $100 entry fee to cover costs and to support the lads of United RFC for organizing this fabulous spring tournament.

Player elgibility for the Old Boy classic is simple---You must be at least 35 years old and not played for your A-side the spring of 2003.

Uncontested scrums will be allowed if one side requests that modification before or during the match.

Unrestricted substitutions-no more than 15 players per side on the field of play!

Point handicapp system will be instituded for every match

Handicapp criteria:
*Captains will exchange rosters after each match with the name and age of each player that participated.
*Any player under 35 years is -7 points
*Any player over 35 but has played for his A-side this spring is -7 points
*Any player 45 and over is +3 points
*Any player 50 and over is +5 points
*Any player 55 and over is +7 points (Tom West--don't you love that one!)
*To qualify for the positive points the player must be on the field of play for a respectable period of time--a half seems fair unless he has a documented heart bypass procedure,expensive artificial joint,skull plate etc. etc. in his medical history.
