Team Bleep Test Levels
william and mary
rugby football club

The Bleep test is all about establishing your personal standard and improving, yet its still fun to compare. The National Women's seven a side to Hong Kong spring 2001 averaged over 11 with a range from 9 to 12. Legendary US coach Emil Signes is a strong proponent of the bleep, he personally witnessed his all time best bleep level from Larry Sims in the late 80's. Larry did a 16--- he was 37 years old at the time! Grahm Bashop, All Black scrumhalf did a 19 in the early 90's. Most professional rugby flankers score in the 12 to 13 range--props around 10. Jonah Lomu, awsome 260 lb winger for the All Blacks best is only a 10--and thats why Lomu is a winger and not a number 8.

Our test on Feb 19th was overall a good result and credit to Carson for organizing team runs this month. I am a bit concerned about some of the bleep results for those players under 180lbs. Any player under 180lbs should be 10 or above--that is a minimal standard for the lighter players. We absolutely need 8 or better for the remainder of the side as a minimal standard. Most matches are won and lost in the last 10 minutes of a 80 minute match. Our fitness in the waning minutes of the close hard matches will determine victory or defeat-- its our choice to make.

Average 7.3 10.1 7.5 7.9

Test conducted on Feb 1st with 13 members, average 7.9. Good effort, yet we need, desire, must have, a team average of 10 to take on the good sides.Keep training.

Test conducted on Sept 5th, Average team level is 7.3. Our collective goal is a team average of 9 by the end of Sept and an average team level of 10 by the State Tournament.

Average team score on Oct 2nd was 10.1, well done! Matt Commerce tied the all time individual score with a 13! Yet, only 9 players tested on that day. We need all our mates out for training to effect real improvement.
"There is no substitude for preparation."

Test conducted Jan 31 Wed with only 7 particpants. Scores are low but not unusual for this time of year.Want to beat Navy? Of course we do. We must have a team average of over 10 with all team members tested to even fancy a chance.
