Bleep Test Results
What fitness level does a Div II Rugby player expect of himself? In general terms, anyone under 185 lbs, should be able to achieve a level 10 with a little dedication. For the larger fellas,if you are not in the tight five level, 10 would be a reasonable requirement. Hookers should be able to do a 10,as well. Their skills in the loose are nearly the same as a flanker or 8.

Billy Tilson,Current Club Champion Test results for Aug 17th were modest. All player positions beyond the tight five not including the hooker should strive for a test level 8 or above. Props and locks depending on body build and weight should all be seeking to better their personal best no matter their existing level of fitness. We have work to do!

Overall team performance was poor but not unusual for this time of year. Top performance honors in this test goes to Aram and Pat. Special mention to Mirza for top score to our mates over 200 pounds.

Test average today was 6.7. No significant change in the top performers but our mates at the lower end are improving their scores. Thank you. In the end, we are only as strong as the slowest least fit player on the pitch.

Burnett 10 Team Champion
22 mates tested this evening with a team average of 6.5. We need a team average of eight the week after our first match. All backs and back row forwards must be near a 10 if not better before the Porter Cup. Team average prior to the Porter Cup must be 9 plus.
Just for comparison, world class back row players score in the 12-14 range. International props around 10. Interesting , Jonah Lomu, the 260lb 6'5" All Black try machine winger with no body fat scores only a 10 but that is why Lomu is not a world class #8. Graham Bashop, former All Black srumhalf , did an 18 plus on the beep which is a virtual sprint after 18 minutes. Brian Hightower, former Eagle winger and VRU legend, best effort was a 13.
