James Lee (Jim) Bowden, 67, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret Bowden.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 45 years, Linda Bowden; children, daughter, Jayci Page and husband, Aaron; son, Jeffrey Bowden; grandson, Harrison James Page; brother, Phil Bowden and his wife, Peggy; his numerous nieces and nephews; along with other extended family members.
He was a 1970 graduate of the University of Virginia and a diehard Cavalier. Jim went on to be a co-founder, player and longtime supporter of the Roanoke Rugby Football Club. He was also an avid golfer and key organizer of the Don Holliday Memorial Golf Tournament.
Jim was also dedicated to his church. A lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church, he continued to play an active role each and every Sunday.
But most of all, Jim was a man who liked to socialize. Like his father before him, Jim was always the life of the party.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations in memory of Jim be made to either the Resurrection Garden Fund at St. John's Episcopal Church or the Roanoke Rugby Football Club.
Visitations with the family will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Oakey's South Chapel, 4257 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke.
